Spring Break: 070

What did I do during my Spring Break last week?

I finished Monkey …

Pattern: Monkey by Cookie A.
Yarn: Hand-dyed by Belinda of Wool Bunny, Perfect Autumn Leaf
Needles: Addi circs (2.5 mm)
Gauge: 8 SPI
Mods: PGR short-row heel with heel st

I absolutely loved knitting with this yarn! The colors … the hand-dyeing … everything was perfect. There was no unsuspected pooling or flashing of colors, so I placed a custom order ;)

I practiced spinning … cast on for New England …

and I treadled a pair of spinning wheels! I’m pretty sure Rock is sick and tired of hearing about all things spinning-related!

Sunday at Burg Nanstein

03.05.2007 · 3 Comments

030507.jpgWe finally got a break in the weather, so we took Nugget to Burg Nanstein in Landstuhl. We thought she’d get a kick out of it since she’s been talking about castles all week. She did. She ran around the courtyard, laughed at her echoes in the spiral staircases, and screamed from the parapets. Here’s a pic of Nugget and me and her “no-I-won’t-smile-for-the-camera” face. I have Midterms this week, so you know what I WON’T be doing. Sigh. Until next week.

Knitting Autumn

03.03.2007 · 8 Comments

monkey-wip.jpgHaving lived in several countries and states, Autumn is hit or miss. I missed it while living in Asia, the UK, Texas, Nebraska, Arizona, and here. We were living in Arizona when I told Rock how much I missed that season and it’s not often I reveal anything to him.

In October of 1998, Rock had to fly to New England and he brought back real Maple syrup and a box. Since Rock can be both a practical joker and a romantic, I took the box apprehensively. “Go ahead, open it.” It was a good-sized box, but light. “Should I be scared?” He smiled. “Just open it.” I opened it and laughed while I threw the contents of the box in the air. He brought me Autumn leaves.

I’m two seasons late, but I finally found a pattern to showcase this beautiful hand-dyed yarn by Belinda at Wool Bunny, appropriately called Perfect Autumn Leaf. Pattern is Monkey by Cookie A. and my neighbors’ yellow crocus, snatched up by Nugget.
