You know I love knitting socks. Cabled, lace, and even plain vanilla. But my secret passion is Opal’s Rainforest Collection. I plan to knit through the first two existing collections that I do have before I gobble up Collection III and the soon-to-be released Collection IV.
It’s crazy, I know.
It’s nothing fancy. For late night Netflix and while reading my assignments, socks are the knitting project I prefer, especially with Rainforest yarn.
I won’t bore you with the details, unless you want to click the following link for all the plain vanilla specs.
Happy knitting!

Before I turned the heel, I had a few rounds of one color (white multi) and I knew that after I finished the heel flap and went back to knitting in the round, that one skinny stripe would drive me bonkers. So, after I turned the heel, I cut and joined the next color sequence (green multi) and knit half the heel flap. Then I cut and joined the next color sequence (blue multi) and knit the remaining heel flap (I was actually two rows short). When I finished knitting the heel flap, I knew I would be back to the next color sequence, the white multi. I guesstimated a cut of about 85 in. of the white multi, joined, and went back to knitting in the round. Now it looks perfect :)

Great socks! I especially love the shades-of-blue pair!

I’m not much of an Opal fan…but I must admit that I really like that Hummel colourway.
When it comes to hand-knit socks, I don’t feel the need for it to be matchy-matchy….because, well, it’s supposed to be hand-knit, right?

Elemmaciltur: Every sock knitter has their own preference and I’m one of them. When it comes to self-patterning socks, I prefer a (nearly) identical pair. Socks with handspun? I’m not so picky about, and find that fraternal pairs look rather charming.

Wow! I love how even the color between the two socks turned out. You will have to tell me in person how you did that! I really love how your socks look. I’m still trying to master socks. :p

Gina: Thank you, Gina :)
It’s actually pretty easy to knit socks that match! I try and start at the beginning of a color sequence. If it’s not at the beginning, I just measure what’s left of that color sequence and take note. It’s not an exact science since I’m usually a round or two off, but I’m not that AR!
