Catching My Breath

06.23.2008 · 6 Comments

Wow, it’s been a long time! I’ve been busy lately — projects, exams, temporary single-parenting while Rock was away on business — trying to hang on to what little sanity I have left. It’s usually not a problem when Rock isn’t home, but the timing wasn’t good at all. There were days … there were days when I couldn’t get my sh*t together. I admit it. I’m no SuperMom (and I sure as hell don’t aspire to be one), but I got really sick and tired of certain people staring at me like I pulled a Winehouse. So if you’ve written or left a comment on one of the posts here and wondered where I’ve been, now you know. Heck, my MIL started re-sending her e-mails with the subject line, “ARE YOU ALIVE?!”, which of course prompted me to write a hasty reply explaining why I’m ignoring my Inbox. Although somewhat annoying, her e-mails are better than phone calls ;)

But Rock is finally home.

And I can catch my breath.

I didn’t sign up for my school’s fifth term and the registration date slipped my mind. Whether by accident or design, I need the break until the next term begins. The time off will be good for Nugget and we can do much needed Momma-Daughter bonding. Oh, and I can rid the house of accumulated junk. Why? Because we’re moving to another area of Germany. I’m a bit apprehensive about the move, but the good thing is that Rock and me will be more judicious when selecting another pre-school for Nugget (pending lawsuits come to mind).

Speaking about more time … I can finally finish those WIPs (and start new ones) and get cracking on Summer of Socks 2008!

I found your blog through Ravelry, and had to comment on your yarns. I was amazed by the yarn spun on spindles. So amazed, in fact, that after looking at all your pictures I ordered a Kundert spindle and some fiber. And today I ordered a Spindolyn just because.

Thanks for the inspiration, and congratulations on missing the school deadline!

Hope to see you in Ravelry!

Jillian and I just got back from our summer in the US. Today we went to SnB, and we missed you so much! I’m very sad that you live too far away now to meet with us. Hope all is well!

Jolita: Crunch time with assignments and projects make dropping the blog pretty attractive, but thank you for checking :)

I needed a change and switched themes, I’m still not sure about it though. I still need to play with it a bit.

Ang: Househunting, packing, moving, transient living, more moving, unpacking, dealing with Wi-Fi providers or Ethernet … I wish I could’ve worked on my WIPs. I was going crazy for a little bit!

Congrats on your future move to Italy! We have always wished for an assignment there, but it could only happen unless Rock goes special duty. We plan to see Italia once more and I do want to see you again! Miss your hugs, too :(

NineOne: Wow, I never thought that I would inspire someone to try spinning! Thank you! That’s all it takes you know … one or two (perhaps three) spindles and some fiber and before you know it you’re absolutely hooked! I love spinning on my Kundert and so will you. I have yet to try a Spindolyn and have also thought about ordering one … you know … just because :)

I will have to check Ravelry soon and find you there … and of course, see your lovely spinning. I wonder if you haven’t shopped around for wheels yet …

Alexandra: The break was too short!

Faith: I’ll miss the SnBs with you all and the spinning days! Nugget absolutely misses you and talks about “Miss Faith” all the time. I’m trying a bit of baking now (with Nugget as my assistant) in hopes it soothes her soul. So far there haven’t been any baking disasters. OK, so it was a pound cake made from scratch (which was demolished in a day), but for someone like me who’s all thumbs when it comes to baking … that’s a good thing :)
